This is the first original full length album by A Split Second, early 1987. It is a logical sequel to the success of the first titleless release, which tracks are included as bonus tracks on the CD version (released in 1988).

Rigor Mortis was and instant hit. Other tracks like Drinking Sand and Check It Out easily followed Rigor Mortis to europe's dancefloors. It was immediately clear that A Split Second was not yet another electronic beat band : with Rigor Mortis and Check It Out, they (re-)introduced the guitar (and guitarsolo) on the dancefloor which had become dominated by pure electronic new wave bands.
